This exhibition is organized by The University of North Dakota's Department of Art & Design and seeks artwork of any media on the topic of when things are strange. This exhibition wants to see the things you find strange, odd, peculiar and even magical or bizarre. This theme crosses many subjects such as portraiture, montage, documentary and surrealism. From the mundane of everyday life, to dreamscape realities or to the circus show of contemporary politics we want to know what you find or create that is strange, unusual or out of the norm. This exhibition is open to all media (except video) including photography.

Eligibility

This juried exhibition is open to national artists of all levels (professional, emerging and students 18 years and over). There is no commission fee. Anyone interested in purchasing work from an accepted artist in the exhibition will be forwarded to the individual artists. Open to all 2D and 3D media (except video) and including photography.

Please copy and paste the Entry Form from this website into a WORD file or send us a document to include, your contact information, title, sizes, media and prices of entries, with your images and your Paypal transaction#. Images must be formatted and presented according to the prospectus.

Awards

Best of Show$300.00, three $50.00 Honorable Mentions and one University of North Dakota Purchase Award will be given out.

Considerations

All 2D work must be framed no larger than 24" x 36". All 3D work must be no larger then 24" in any direction, weigh no more than 70 lbs when boxed, and if a wall piece, weigh no more then 10lbs. All 3D wall pieces must come with all hanging hardware to be exhibited.

Evaluation Criteria

JUROR:
Fran Forman is a Photo-Painting Artist, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and assemblage artist. Her artworks have been included in permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Grace Museum, Abilene and the North Down Museum in Northern Ireland. She has had solo shows of her photo-paintings at the Henry Fox Talbot Museum, Lacock Abbey, England as well as the Griffin Museum of Photography. She has won awards from the Julia Margaret Cameron awards, invited to take part in the China2nd Biennial International Photographic Cultural Festival and Exhibition and placed second in the World Photography Gala Award to name a few. She is a recipient of several grants, including one from the Puffin Foundations. Her book, The Art of Fran Forman, was awarded one of the Best Photobook of 2014. She is currently resident scholar at the Women's Studies Center at Brandeis University and teaches workshops at selected schools across the US and abroad. Ms. Forman is currently represented by Pucker Gallery (Boston), Afterimage Gallery (Dallas), Susan Spiritus Gallery (Newport Beach, CA) Sohn Fine Art Gallery (Lenox, MA and Photomethode (Austin).
