Considerations

18 & Under Category:
One of the missions of the Open Shutter Gallery is to support and develop the talents of young and emerging photographers. We’re offering an 18 and Under Category at a reduced fee of $10 per submitted image. If needed, the Gallery has frames available for use during the exhibit to defer productions costs. We’d like to encourage all young artists to enter the competition.
5 & Under: No entry-free!

Evaluation Criteria

The exhibition will be juried by Open Shutter Gallery and Fran Forman.

Fran Forman: Painting stories with light, Forman constructs alternative realities with found images as well as her own photography. Fran studied art and sociology as an undergraduate at Brandeis University and then received an MSW, working for several years with heroin addicts. Discovering that she could indeed earn a living in the arts, she entered Boston University’s School of Fine Arts where, specializing in photography and graphic design, she received her MFA. Fran is a Resident Scholar at the Women’s Studies Research Center at Brandeis University and teaches part time at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She is also a recipient of grants from the Sassower, Tyre, Tavris, and Puffin Foundations and a resident artist in 2010 at the Vermont Studio Center and the Studios at KeyWest in 2015.
