Philadelphia non-profit art gallery and collective Vox Populi is now accepting submissions from artists all over the world for its 1st Ever Juried Publication of Artwork by Emerging Artists, guest curated by James Claiborne and Brittany Webb!

In lieu of Vox Populi's 16th Annual Exhibition of Emerging Artists (originally scheduled for summer 2020), the collective has decided to re-imagine the annual open call, shifting the outcome from a physical exhibition to an e-publication. Vox remains committed to highlighting opportunities for emerging artists and the current need to find alternatives to traditional exhibitions. The collective urges artists to submit work that is representative of their long-standing interests and well suited for the e-publication format.* Applicants do not need to speak to the current pandemic or changes in practice or thinking, as a result. We are interested in highlighting work in all media that is ambitious, timely and risk-taking. A theme for the resulting exhibition may emerge based on submissions and the interests of our guest jurors.

*Since we are unable to host this opportunity as a physical, in-person exhibition this year, please consider applying with 2-dimensional works, video, audio, or photographic documentation of new or recent sculpture/installation/3-dimensional work. Multimedia or multi-dimensional installation works that require the simultaneous experiencing of objects and time-based media, for instance, may not be suitable for this call.

The e-publication will be released in August 2020 and distributed via Vox Populi's website, mailing list and social-media platforms – collectively reaching over 20k subscribers!

The deadline for submissions is Monday June 8, 2020. This is not an artwork-commission, solo-show, or paid exhibition opportunity. Vox Populi does not conduct online sales of artwork. There is a non-refundable application fee of $10. All fees collected from this open call go towards the costs of producing this opportunity, including hosting the publication and compensating our jurors, as well as supporting our artist-run space.
