Juror's Statement:I'm really looking forward to spending time with your photographs – I'm always drawn to practices that I'm encountering for the first time and make me think differently. That's probably not that useful to you submitting to this year's Texas Photographic Society's 2023 open call but all to say that I am excited to see photographs that are new to me. In recent years, I've been especially interested in photographers who I see counterarguing against prevailing ideas of the role of a photographer in our contemporary context and proposing what photography can still do to help us understand and appreciate human existence. I'm interested in seeing how you use our beloved medium and what you believe is important to visually narrate.
