Juror's Statement
Despite the fact that we are perpetually bombarded with images, we still actively seek out images that describe a scene, define a moment, or distill an emotion. For me, being inundated by images only heightens the pleasure when I find an image that speaks to me directly. As a museum director, I try to apply the same criterion to all possible acquisitions-will this image, framed on the wall, stop someone dead in their tracks and inspire them to pause, even if just for a moment, and focus only on that one photograph?
