The Personal is Political examines the relationship between personal experience and the political structures we navigate in our daily lives. It engages art as a vehicle of civic action, featuring works by national artists committed to investigating identity, freedom and resistance through their practice.

We are now seeking submissions for The Personal is Political, opening March 9th, 2017 with a private fundraising event benefiting Planned Parenthood Southeast. This call is open to artists of all gender identities, racial and economic backgrounds living across the globe. Consideration will be given to all mediums and dimensions. $5 of each submission fee will go to benefit Planned Parenthood Southeast. See FAQ information below for further details.

Please label all images as “Artist Name_Title_Medium_Dimensions_Year”
All images should be in .jpg or .png format and no larger than 7MB
Multiple images can be used to describe sculptural pieces

Please be advised:
The artist is responsible for shipping both TO AND FROM Art Rise Gallery; a prepaid shipping label addressed “Return to Sender” MUST be included in the packaging to the gallery.
All accepted works MUST comply with gallery hanging requirements: picture hanging wire, and/or installation instructions should be mailed with the accepted work. Art Rise Gallery does not allow anything to be hung from the ceiling specifically.
Art Rise Gallery will display prices on title cards, if your work is accepted. Art Rise Gallery will handle any and all sales transactions between the buyer and the work of art.
All work and/or artist profit will be returned to the artist within one to two weeks of closing date.

Awards

$5 from each submission fee will be donated to Planned Parenthood Southeast.
50% of the selling price of artwork will be donated to Planned Parenthood Southeast, serving Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi with reproductive health care, education, and advocacy.
