The Hand Magazine Issue #7

The Hand Magazine is looking for submissions for Issue #7, due out in January. Submissions are due by midnight on November 15th. In addition to being considered for the printed magazine, submissions will also be considered for an exhibition being held at the Potter Gallery at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. The exhibition will run from January 15th to February 15th, 2015.

Submissions are $15 for 5 images and include a copy of the magazine whether your work is selected or not. No additional fees apply for images selected for the exhibition, however those artists will be responsible for shipping selected work to the gallery.

Requirements

$15 submission fee, 5 images or article + 5 images, submission form. Exhibition agreement if selected for exhibition.

Awards

Some images will be selected to be included in a physical exhibition at Potter Gallery, Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Considerations

Artists selected to contribute to the exhibition will be responsible for shipping their work to the gallery by January 7th.

Evaluation Criteria

The Hand seeks to promote unique, innovative, contemporary images that somehow incorporate reproduction-based media, i.e. photography, collage and printmaking. We are particularly interested in the presence of the artist's hand in the work. We select a wide variety of processes and subject matter. We tend to lean towards the more poetic, strange, surreal, mysterious and dark, but we rule out nothing. Even digital work that can be said to incorporate the artist's hand in some way is seriously considered.
