The Hand Magazine Issue 54

A Magazine For Reproduction-based Arts

The Hand Magazine LLC   /   Deadline: 08/31/26

Download in PDF Format

The Hand Magazine is dedicated to the contemporary use of hand-printed media in printmaking and photography. Any artwork that incorporates any type of printed or photographic media is welcome.

Location

The Hand Magazine is based in Kansas City with a worldwide reach.

Fees

$15 for a single-issue subscription includes a copy of the magazine whether your work is selected for print or not (more outside the US to accommodate shipping). Single-issue, one-year, and two-year subscriptions are available.

Eligibility

Everyone is eligible

Requirements

Subscription (single-issue, one-year, or two-year), up to five images (see website for file specs), submission form

Awards

No special awards, but we often select work from our magazine issues to be included in physical exhibitions we do about once every year. We also choose one to three artists to be included as "spotlight artists" with a two-page spread in the magazine.

Considerations

We are especially interested in hand-printed work (hence the name of the magazine), but we also print some digital work. All types of printmaking and photography are welcome.

Evaluation Criteria

We look for work that is unique, idiosyncratic, experimental, and weird. We are drawn to excellent craft, compelling narrative, and the uniqueness of vision and technique. There is never a theme. We want variety!
