Envision Kindness / Deadline: 06/15/16
Our 2016 Student Photography & Film Contest is open to any photography or photojournalism student, regardless of whether they are a college major, minor, workshop attendee, single course, etc. The program is intended to be remind people about the kindness that exists in the world (in contrast to all the bad we usually see), help promote prosocial school and community cultures, and inspire people to bring more kindness and compassion into their own lives.
There are multiple submission categories, including single images, photo series, and short documentary films, and opportunities to win multiple cash prizes with every entry. It is also an opportunity for students to have their work seen publicly and reviewed by prominent judges. $5 per submission (up to 5 submissions per person)
This contest is open to photojournalism and photography students (single course, workshop, academic major or minor, graduate students, etc.) 18 years of age and older who were are/were enrolled in a photography course, workshop or program from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2016.
Photography/photojournalism interns are also eligible.
This contest is not open to professionals. A professional is defined as someone earning the majority of their income from photography for more than one year (with exception of an intern).
There is no geographic restriction on origin of contestant or where the submitted entries were captured, except where prohibited by law for that country or state. The submissions do not have to be taken during the period of time above.
Participants should submit their own original work. Participants may submit up to 5 entries total from the categories and formats below. An entry consists of one photo, a photo series, or video, in addition to completed information fields.
There are two main categories to which participants may submit:
-Documentary (journalistic) entry reflects actual events, people, and stories
-Illustrative (interpretive) entry reflects fictional, staged events, concepts, or other representations of kindness

1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize in each division will be determined by a panel of distinguished photojournalist judges (to be announced).
The fourth prize is earned by popular (public) vote. You promote your entries and the world gets to pick their favorites! The top vote getter in each category will win a Popular Choice Prize!

Everyone who registers by April 4, 2016 will automatically be entered into a raffle to win one of three $100 gift cards to a photography superstore!
All participants who submit their entries by May 1, 2016 will automatically be entered into a raffle to attend one of David LaBelle's (Photojournalism Director at Kent State University) "Picture With a Purpose" workshops tuition-free*!
