SPE Southeast Regional Juried Photographic Exhibition

Location

The exhibition will be at the Clemson Center for Visual Arts-Greenville in the Clemson One Building, at 1 North Main Street in Greenville, SC. The Clemson One Building is the location of the conference. The exhibition is open to the public.

Eligibility

The exhibition is an OPEN CALL to all Members of SPE. There is no theme. The SPE Southeast organizing committee invites photographers working in all mediums and styles to take part in the exhibition. The deadline to send digital files for consideration is Friday September 4, at 5 pm. This exhibit is open to all SPE Members, and students, teachers and professional members are encouraged to apply. Please confirm that you are a Member and that your status is up-to-date. We invite photographers working in all mediums and styles to take part in the exhibition.

Requirements

Submit up to Six (6) JPEG images sized to be not longer than 1200 pixels in either dimension, with the resolution set to 72 ppi. The images must be named with the artist’s first initial, last name, and the number of the image ( example A_Peabody_01). As a guide, individual files should not exceed 2 megabytes. Using the save for web function in Photoshop is often useful in sizing images correctly.

Include an image list with the title, medium, date and size of the work. Also include your name and contact information, and a short Bio not to exceed 150 words.

Framed works should be no larger than 30x40 inches.

Work must be shipped to arrive on, or be delivered by September 25th. Artwork must be framed and prepared to hang with wire on the back of the frame. Directions on where to ship the work will be given to selected artists.

Return shipping must be included with the shipped submission. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the exhibition. Artists are responsible for using packaging suitable for reuse for return shipping.

Considerations

Reproduction Rights
Each photographer retains all copyrights to his or her images. Photographers whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant the SPE and the Center for Visual Arts-Greenville the right to use their images for display on the web and for the purpose of promoting exhibitions, promoting SPE's and the CVA-G’s programs, and promoting the artist. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for SPE and CVA-G with artist credit. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact from SPE or CVA-G. The artist understands that SPE, the Clemson University Center for Visual Arts-Greenville, and the Clemson One Center will not be held responsible for loss, theft or other damage, whether caused by the negligence of its officers, members, or others.

Sales
The gallery takes a 30% commission on all sales. Prices submitted by the artist should reflect this commission. Please note if works are not for sale, works submitted for consideration do not need to be available for purchase.

Evaluation Criteria

Juror: Byron Wolfe

Byron Wolfe will be a keynote speaker at the SPE Southeast Regional Conference in Greenville, and the juror for our juried exhibition. Byron Wolfe’s photographs connect his interests in time, change, and place. His work is widely exhibited and collected. He has received a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation and is a recipient of the Santa Fe Prize for Photography. He is the author of Everyday: A Yearlong Photo Diary (Chronicle Books, 2007 and an Apple e-book, 2012), and a co-author of Yosemite in Time (Trinity University Press, 2005), and Third Views, Second Sights (Museum of New Mexico Press, 2004). Byron Wolfe is the Program Director for Photography at the Tyler School of Art Center for the Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His personal web site is byronwolfe.com.
