Fabula Works is a curatorial platform dedicated to discovering and supporting new photographic voices, with a special focus on emerging artists from around the world. Through duo or solo exhibitions renewed every one to two months, we bring thoughtful and resonant visual narratives to the public.

Photography exhibitions curated by Fabula Works are presented at Millepiani Gallery in Rome, a space that has supported contemporary photographic practices for almost a decade. Past exhibitions at Millepiani were curated by Loosen Art, helping establish the gallery as a reference point for creative and experimental photography. Free to visit and located just three metro stops from the Colosseum, Millepiani is more than a gallery. It is a place that brings people together by providing exhibition spaces, coworking environments, and fertile ground for projects designed to have positive and lasting impacts on the community and society.

We are currently seeking two photographers to be featured in our fall exhibition. Selected artists will have their printing and exhibition promotion fully covered. Artists are simply responsible for making their own arrangements should they decide to attend and enjoy the opening night.

For this open call, photographers are free to develop on the theme: Cycle(s). We are very honoured to have Carolyn Mendelsohn as our guest jury.

Please note that we reserve the right to present a solo exhibition if a submission demonstrates particularly strong artistic merit and a unique, singular vision.

To apply, please submit a portfolio of 10 to 25 photographs in a PDF file, as well as a biography and an artist statement. All genres are welcome. Please note that a contribution of 25 EUR is required to support the administration of the open call.

Evaluation Criteria

For this open call, we are very honoured to have Carolyn Mendelsohn as our guest jury. She is a Nikon Europe Ambassador, and the first Royal Photographic Society Ambassador. In 2024, she received the international award for her work with young people by the Royal Photographic Society.
