SPE-NE Regional Conference :: Accessibility: Ubiquity vs. the Sublime
Northeast Regional Conference / Deadline: 09/05/14
Everyone is a photographer. How do we as educators find the balance between ubiquity and the sublime? How do we as students acknowledge the traditions of photography while being true to our own photographic acumen?
The 2014 SPE Northeast regional conference in Albany, NY on October 24th and 25th hopes to address our omnipresent medium in it's
developing manifestations and evolving aesthetics, ultimately leading
to an understanding of how these fit into photographic education and
learning.
We welcome proposals from member photographers, writers, educators,
curators, historians and professionals from other fields. We encourage
topics to be theme-based, but this is not required.
Proposals will be accepted for the following formats:
- Academic Practicum Workshop (45 min)- a lecture, demonstration, or
panel that addresses educational issues that address educational
issues.
- Imagemaker (45 min)- a presentation on the artist's own work
- Lecture (45 min)- a presentation on an historical topic, theory, or
another artist's work
- Panel (60 min)- a group led by a moderator to discuss a chosen topic.
