Masters of Fine Arts Scholarship Opportunity

Southwest University of Visual Arts is awarding merit-based tuition scholarships at our Tucson and Albuquerque campuses.

SUVA's unique Master of Fine Arts program allows students to customize their course of study, linked to their individual career goals.

You now have the opportunity to apply to our MFA program and be considered for one of the following scholarships:

- Up to four (4) 50% renewable tuition scholarships
- Up to eight (8) 25% renewable tuition scholarships

Eligibility

All artists and designers holding a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree prior to August 2015 are eligible to apply.

Each SUVA campus (Tucson and Albuquerque) is awarding up to two (2) 50% tuition scholarships and four (4) 25% tuition scholarships.

By submitting an application for a scholarship, you are also applying for conditional acceptance to SUVA's Master of Fine Arts program. Upon conditional acceptance to the MFA program, you must submit the following to complete the application process:

- Official SUVA application for the Master of Fine Arts program.
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities where you received a Bachelor's degree and all subsequent degrees.
- Proof of graduation for BA or BFA degree(s). Official transcripts showing degrees awarded are acceptable.

To maintain scholarship funds, student must be enrolled, and remain enrolled, full-time in suggested MFA coursework at Southwest University of Visual Arts.

Requirements

To apply for the MFA program and be considered for a scholarship, submit the following:

- Resume or CV.
- Statement of intent (500 words minimum) explaining how a Master of Fine Arts degree can help you achieve your career goals and why you believe SUVA is the right school for you.
- Artist statement.
- Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Graphic Design, Painting and Illustration.
- Photography: 20 digital images, between 800 and 1200 pixels in the longest dimension.
- Motion Arts: Documentation of 2-5 completed time-based projects. Digital images, between 800 and 1200 pixels on the longest dimension, video, or web-based projects may be submitted. Include link to additional online works if relevant.
- Image list to accompany portfolio containing titles, dates, dimensions (H" x W" x D"), and media.
- Three academic or professional letters of recommendation.

Awards

50% Tuition Scholarship
- 50% tuition credit (additional expenses paid by student)
- Dispersed to the student's bursar account
- Applied to Fall and Spring semesters only
- Applied to tuition for 4 consecutive semesters
- Student must maintain eligibility requirements each semester


25% Tuition Scholarship
- 25% tuition credit (additional expenses paid by student)
- Dispersed to the student's bursar account
- Applied to Fall and Spring semesters only
- Applied to tuition for 4 consecutive semesters
- Student must maintain eligibility requirements each semester
