PHOTOGRAPHERS: GET YOUR WORK PUBLISHED BY JOANNA MILTER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE NEW YORKER AND ONE OF THE INDUSTRY'S MOST REPUTED PHOTOGRAPHY EDITORS!

Submissions are now open to all analog & film photographers: send your best portfolio by Monday, September 30, midnight Pacific Time, for a chance to earn your work major public recognition being printed in the 3rd JRNL Issue to be released in December, 2019!

Guest-Editor Joanna Milter is interested in reviewing a wide variety of works authored from many different contemporary perspectives. Innovative approaches to all genres of photography, as well as rigorous technical execution and refined aesthetics are therefore essential to successful submissions.
Photographers can submit up to 10 photographs drawn from either a single body of work, from different series, and/or as stand-alone images.

WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT: Early November 2019
JRNL PRINT COPIES MAILED & AVAILABLE ONLINE: Early December 2019

Fees

$25 for 10 images

Eligibility

Photographers submitting work must be 18 years of age or older. All nationalities are welcome.

Requirements

JRNL is all analog: all images submitted must have been captured either on film (any format or type) or using other analog imaging processes (paper, glass, alternative processes, etc.). No digital captures are accepted. Works shot on film, then scanned and postedited are all eligible to be entered.

JRNL strives to present photography that is current and reflective of today's critical focuses and societal narratives: work entered must have been thus created after January 2010.

Awards

Published photographers each receive 2 full spreads in it to present their work, accompanied by a small writeup from the juror/guest-editor thereby providing invaluable feedback.

In addition to the spreads, the guest editor also awards the JRNL issue's front & back covers to his/her top selected photographer.

The 12 published photographers each receive 1 complimentary JRNL copy in the mail at no cost.

Considerations

JRNL copies will become available for purchase online around mid-December, and will be further distributed internationally following our exhibition programs at select partnering venues in Canada, USA, Australia, Europe and Asia.
