INFOCUS Sidney Zuber Photography Award

INFOCUS, the photography support organization of Phoenix Art Museum invites emerging or early career photographers to apply for the INFOCUS Sidney Zuber Photography Award.

The artist selected in this juried contest will receive an unrestricted cash award of $5000, up to a two-month exhibition of their artwork at Phoenix Art Museum, plus up to $1500 travel reimbursement to attend a reception in their honor at the Museum. The judges may award Honorable Mention recognition to additional artists.

The competition will be judged by three curators including Rebecca Senf, the Norton Family Curator at Phoenix Art Museum; Joshua Chuang, Chief Curator at the Center for Creative Photography and April Watson, PhD, Curator of Photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

Emerging or early career photographers.

Requirements

- Applicants are required to submit a brief artist's statement which includes the URL for the applicant's website.
- Artists may submit up to five images. The jurors will consider submitted images and the artist's statement in choosing the winning artist, and may also consult the applicant's website, if applicable.
- Entries must be submitted digitally via the CaF website and payment of the $25 entry fee must be processed through CaF.
- Although the entry must be a digital representation, the artwork itself may exist in another medium, such as a print on paper or one or more physical objects.

Awards

Evaluation Criteria

There are not specific criteria for early career or emerging. It is NOT basing it on age, gallery representation, publications or exhibitions. In the application you have a chance to describe why you see yourself as early career or emerging. The goal of the award is to help a talented photographer who is starting out.
