In Community: LACP's Annual Members' Exhibition - Call for Entries

This open call invites submissions for photographs that consider the relationship between photography and community building, creative practice and collaboration, and the photographic act as the foundation for connection.

Artists need a network of peers—to share skills and lessons, connect, be inspired and drive their work forward. LACP's members constitute a community of collaborators, who connect from across the country and the world around their shared dedication and commitment to photography. This exhibition suggests that all images and image-makers need a human mechanism of support and reciprocity as the foundation of their practice, and shines a light on the connections that inform the work. It also considers the act of taking a photograph as the beginning of a conversation that extends beyond the frame.

This call is open to all genre and forms of still images, including, but not limited to, conceptual work, reportage, portraiture, street, alternative processes, or documentary.

Selected works will be shown at an exhibition at LACP's Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles.

Eligibility

This exhibition is open exclusively to current LACP Members ONLY. The juror will select works based on creativity, originality, and quality. LACP invites member photographers working in all mediums and styles to take part in the exhibition.

The deadline to submit digital files through Submittable for consideration in this call is: Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Midnight PST. No exceptions.

Requirements

There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted. If submitting more than 35 images, please repeat the payment process as necessary. Size each image 1200 pixels on the long side at 72 dpi DO NOT HAVE YOUR FIRST OR LAST NAME IN THE FILENAME. You are welcome to name the files anything you like, or to keep the original file number. NOTE: Please DO NOT watermark your images when submitting. Thank you.

Awards

1st Place winner will receive $500 cash; 2nd Place winner will receive a $250 LACP gift card and one-year complimentary membership; 3rd Place winner will receive a $250 LACP gift card. Honorable Mentions: Other artists will receive honorable mentions and have their work shown with the winners in an in-person exhibition at LACP headquarters opening on Thursday, October 1st, 2026.

Considerations

All images accepted for exhibition must be prints or framed professionally, wired on the back with eyelets, and labeled on the back of the frame with your name, image title, and contact information (email and phone). Please mount wire and eyelets about 1/4 down from top of frame. There are no size restrictions. Exhibiting photographers will be expected to either drop off their work or pay for round-trip shipping of their work. You will be required to send us a prepaid express mail label for the return of your artwork. We take no responsibility for damage during shipping, so we suggest that your insure the work during mailing.

Evaluation Criteria

Chandra Glick is Photo Director at Artforum, where she has shaped the magazine's visual identity for over a decade. She is also Faculty at the International Center of Photography. Chandra holds an MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and an AB in Visual Art from Brown University. She began her publishing career working as a Photo Researcher at VISIONAIRE and in the photo department at Details magazine (Condé Nast), experiences that gave her a grounding in both experimental art publishing and high-volume editorial production. As an educator and curator, Chandra has taught at Rutgers University, the School of Visual Arts, Phillips Exeter Academy, and the Maine Photographic Workshops, and has lectured at Hunter College, SVA, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She juried Halide Project's (Philadelphia) first annual call-for-entry exhibition "Living Image." Her writing and interviews have been published in Artforum, Artforum.com, and Bookforum. Chandra is particularly drawn to experimental approaches to photography and conceptually driven projects.
