A Light in the Dark
FRAME/SEQUENCE / Deadline: 01/15/26
FRAME/SEQUENCE is a quarterly print periodical spotlighting underrepresented and emerging photographers, writers, artists, and communities across Philadelphia and Greater Pennsylvania — connecting art, story, and place in a uniquely intimate and enduring form.
The guest juror for our second edition is Dale Rio. Dale is co-founder and Curatorial and Programming Co-ordinator of The Halide Project a Philadelphia-based non-profit dedicated to film and historic process photography, owner of Point A to Point B: analog explorations, a print publication featuring travel- and place-based analog work, and founder of Lux et Libera: women at the intersection of light and chemistry, an initiative seeking to recognize the leading role women play in film and alternative/historic process photography.
FRAME/SEQUENCE's second edition, A Light in the Dark, allows for multiple interpretations from artists across different walks of life.
Our country is experiencing a dark time, and we want to provide a space that highlights what still brings joy and defines the relationship between the light and the dark. From the literal interpretation of photography as a source of light, to illuminating aspects of life in our current reality, we welcome work encapsulating all angles of this theme. As always, we want to offer a platform to voices often unheard.
This edition will be curated from an open submission process, inviting individuals across Philadelphia and Greater Pennsylvania to share their stories. FRAME/SEQUENCE is committed to telling the rich and diverse stories of this region's artists and communities.
