Earth Mother / Mother Earth

Earth Mother/Mother Earth is a call for contemporary images of Earth Mothers, Mother Earth, or simply of women and/or the land. The current anthropocene epoch brings with it widespread ecological crisis, while the lives, voices, and rights of many women across the globe are under threat. This call for entry aims to honor generations of women who have been storytellers, healers, water-gatherers, and constant caretakers of our families, homes, and ecosystems. Pictorialist-like visions of the nude woman in the landscape should be avoided—we want to see diverse, inclusive, modern interpretations.

To submit: Submit 3-5 images, sized 1280px on the long side, 160 ppi and saved as .JPGS. Save each file titled lastname_firstname_imagetitle.jpg and email in a .zip file to submission@dont-smile.com with "Earth Mother/Mother Earth Submission" in the subject line.

March 29th – Call for Entry Opens
April 14th - Submission deadline
April 21st – Artists are notified
April 22nd – Earth Mother / Mother Earth is published online
