Photolucida / Deadline: 07/01/26
Critical Mass is an annual online program that connects photographers from around the world with leading voices in the field. Open to photographers at all levels, participants submit a portfolio of 10 images for consideration. After an initial pre-screening, 200 finalists are selected, and their work is reviewed and voted on by up to 200 respected photography professionals from around the world. From this group, the Top 50 are chosen, along with recipients of several prestigious awards.
What makes Critical Mass unique is the level of visibility it offers. Your work is seen by museum curators, gallerists, publishers, editors, educators, artists, and media professionals—people who are actively looking for new talent. It's an opportunity to put your images in front of the right audience.
$65-$75 (early bird/regular fee)
Please note: If your work is selected for the Top 200 round, the registration fee is $200.
Please note: Photolucida will not accept AI-generated imagery for the 2026 Critical Mass call for entries. This policy reflects an ongoing effort to thoughtfully engage with the evolving relationship between AI, creativity, and photo-based work through continued dialogue with the photography community.
