A Woman & Non-binary Artist Zine
Borderline Press / Deadline: 07/05/26
Common Ground is an annual publication dedicated to featuring women and non-binary artists in all stages of their career. The press invites a guest curator to collaborate with the publisher for each issue. Issue 04 is being co-curated by C. Meier.
Meier (American, b. 1982, they/them) is an artist and curator based in Portland, OR. Their art practice explores materiality, reveling in the hybridization of processes including drawing and photographic methods. They are especially interested in alternative and cameraless approaches to photography. Meier earned their MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago (2017) and BFA in Studio Art from Pacific Lutheran University (2004). Meier has exhibited at Candela Books + Gallery, Hyde Park Art Center, Mana Contemporary (Chicago), Filter Space, Nine Gallery, Solas Gallery, Carnation Contemporary, among others, and their work is part of the Permanent Collection of Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA). Meier curated "Creative Resilience: Critical Mass 2025 Top 50" at Blue Sky, Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts, "Size Matters" (2023) for Medium Photo, San Diego and co-curated "re:collection" (2017) at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago (MoCP). Professional roles include Collections Manager (2018-2020) at the MoCP, Studio Assistant to artist Barbara Kasten (2019-2020), and Exhibitions Director (2021 - current), at Blue Sky.

We're encouraging artists in all stages of their career to submit work to be included in this printed publication. We are seeking to feature photography, ceramics/sculpture, collage work, textiles, painting, installation art, poetry, creative nonfiction, printmaking, and any approach that pushes the boundaries of these artistic mediums.
While the intent of this publication is to feature contemporary artists, we welcome the opportunity to share your written works in the form of poetry and short written pieces. The only requirement is that the artist submitting the work is a woman or is non-binary. Artists maintain all rights to submitted artwork.
Each artist may submit a maximum of 5 files to be considered.
