CALL FOR ARTISTS BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY – 8TH EDITION 2026

ITSLIQUID Group   /   Deadline: 02/28/26

ITSLIQUID Group is proud to announce the open call for the 8th edition of BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY 2026, an international exhibition dedicated to contemporary painting, photography, video art, installation, sculpture, and performance art. Hosted at ITSLIQUID Art Space – Barcelona (click here to learn more about this venue), from April 10 to April 18, 2026, the exhibition will feature artists from around the world, celebrating innovation, diversity, and the power of artistic expression in one of Europe's most vibrant cultural cities.

Since 2001, ITSLIQUID Group has organized over 350 international events, engaging more than 10,000 artists across over 60 global venues. Its initiatives have featured prestigious museums like the CCCB – Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona in Spain, the NCCA – National Center for Contemporary Arts in Moscow, the MuMo – Museum Montanelli in Prague, and the MUST Museum in Lecce, in addition to numerous galleries and private foundations. Thanks to its partnership with Sedition, ITSLIQUID has presented masters such as Bill Viola and Refik Anadol, offering high-level opportunities for young, mid-career, and renowned artists.
BARCELONA CONTEMPORARY explores the connection between body and space, reflecting on how identities evolve within today's cultural, social, and urban contexts. Through its two curated sections, MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES, the exhibition invites artists to share their unique visions of transformation and coexistence in the contemporary world.

MIXING IDENTITIES analyses the hidden parts of our identities through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness. The human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality; a strong communication system with its language and infinite ways of expression.

FUTURE LANDSCAPES are abstract, infinite and conceptual, associated with a sense of freedom and infinite extension. Primarily experienced with the mind, spaces redefine their limits and borders, transforming surfaces into an open flow of pure ideas. This section focuses on the concepts of borders and the structures between body, mind and soul, human identity and the city, space and ground.

Deadline for applications is February 28, 2026 (11.59 PM your local time)

Artists, photographers, video makers, and performers are invited to submit their works. To take part in the selection, send your works' submissions with a CV/biography, some still images (for video art), links to videos/films/performances and pictures via e-mail to info@itsliquid.com
