International submission call for photographers as part of the European Month of Photography 2020 (EMOP)

Who can apply
BBA Photography Prize 2020 is open to all artist and photographers over the age of 18, irrespective of their backgrounds and nationalities. There are no restrictions in terms of theme, photography medium or educational background. Installations and conceptual works are welcome.


Application process
Step 1 - Pay the application fee
Step 2 - You will receive an application link via E-Mail and then you can upload your photography works and information whenever you have the time to do so.

Your application must consist of:
- Name, address, contact information, website
- Artist Statement (300 words max.)
- CV + Exhibition List
- Artwork information (title, medium, size, year of creation)
- Presentation options
- 5 jpg files of your photography works (up to 1 MB per file)


The Prize
The longlisted artists will be announced end of August 2020 and promoted via social media. Four shortlisted photo artists will then be selected to exhibit at BBA Gallery as part of European Month of Photography (EMOP) in October 2020. Each shortlisted artist will receive promotion through the gallery's website, PR and social media channels. One selected winner will receive an artist profile on Artsy through BBA Gallery, and a prestigious solo show at BBA Gallery in Berlin. The winner will also be promoted by BBA Gallery for at least one year. On top BBA will promote the best applications via social media during August 2020.

Evaluation Criteria

The Jury
Entries will be judged by high ranking professionals like the award-winning photographer Nikita Teryoshin, Chrystel Lebas, award winning visual artist using photography and film from the UK, co-founder of EyeEm and Berlin Photo Week, Gen Sadakane and former Director of Eyes On – Photo Week Vienna and EMOP Jury member, Thomas Licek. The jury will look for the most innovative concept, aesthetical language and unique approach within the medium.

People's Choice
During the EMOP exhibition in October 2020 the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artist as part of the People's Choice Award. The BBA Photography Prize winner will be announced at the opening event, and the People's Choice Award winner will be revealed during the finissage.
