The Colorado Photographic Arts Center announces its annual juried members’ photography exhibition. This year’s juror is Tim B. Wride, William & Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography at the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach. The exhibition will be a survey of new work made by CPAC members within the past three years, and is intended to highlight the creative talents of CPAC’s core constituency. There is no theme. The show is open to current, registered members of the organization only.

Free for members / $45 for non-members

Eligibility

Works submitted must have been made within three years of the exhibition deadline. All lens-based media are eligible, including but not limited to images made by film or video camera, scanner, screen-capture, digital camera, and any means of mobile photography. Entry is open to regional, national, and international members of CPAC.

Registration closes at midnight MST on Thursday, July 7, 2016

Exhibition print sizes must be specified.

Awards

A $300 purchase award will be given for Best of Show, chosen by the juror on site at CPAC. The selected image will become part of CPAC’s permanent photography collection. Three Honorable Mention awards will be made. An exhibition catalog will be published online; awardees will receive a printed version.

Considerations

Exhibiting artists pay for round-trip shipping of their work. Please do not ship work with packaging ‘peanuts.’ Artists shipping work must use reusable packing materials.

Upon your acceptance, the work to be exhibited must be shipped or delivered ready-to-hang, and hardware needed for installation of the work, No saw-tooth hangers. The Gallery reserves the right to reject any work not printed or framed at a professional level. Please use white or off-white matt board only.

Artists exhibiting slide or video projection, installation, or sculptural works beyond a two-dimensional format must provide the necessary hardware and equipment to exhibit the work in its intended form. CPAC does not provide slide or video projectors.

Evaluation Criteria

Tim B. Wride joined the staff at the Norton Museum of Art in November of 2011. Since that time he has mounted eleven exhibitions for his new home audiences including Outside/In: Florida Photographers Face-to-Face with the Permanent Collection, Clubs, Joints, and Honky-Tonks: Photographers experience the Music World, The Rudin Prize 2012, L.A. Stories: Narrative Video from the West Coast, and New Work/New Directions: Recent Acquisitions of Photography. Mr. Wride also coordinated the Norton installations for Elegant Enigmas: The Art of Edward Gorey, The Radical Camera: New York’s Photo League, 1936-1951, and THE POLAROID YEARS: Instant Photography and Experimentation. Since his arrival he has grown the collection by more than 2000 objects and has commissioned 8 artists to create works specifically for the museum. In the 2014-15 season, Wride mounted four exhibitions for the Norton: Living Legends: the Photomontages of Robert Wiengarten, The Rudin Prize, 2014, Coming into Fashion: A Century of Photography at Condé Nast, and Imaging Eden: Photographers Discover the Everglades. During the 2015-16 season, Wride organized and installed the North American premieres of The Summer of ’68: Photographing the Black Panthers, This Place: Israel through Photography’s Lens, Tiny: Streetwise Revisited
