Our 61st printed issue of AAP Magazine will feature the best projects showcasing the theme "STREET"
All About Photo / Deadline: 09/29/26
The street never stops telling stories. A stranger's glance, a shadow cutting across pavement, the chaos of rush hour or the hush of an empty corner at 3am — street photography catches the world when it isn't posing. This is your invitation to show us how you see it.
Street photography, as Encyclopedia Britannica defines it, is "a genre that records everyday life in a public place." Photographers have been chasing this exact moment since the birth of the medium itself — Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre's 1838 image of the Boulevard du Temple is often cited as the first. As cameras grew smaller and faster, generations of photographers took to the streets to document urban life: Charles Nègre, Eugène Atget, Alfred Stieglitz, André Kertész, Berenice Abbott, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brassaï, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Vivian Maier, Garry Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, William Eggleston, and many more iconic names who shaped how we see the fast-changing life of towns and cities.
Today, capturing the pulse of urban life is both a celebrated art form and a vital way of communicating the heart of a society and its people.
Send us a cohesive body of work or portfolio capturing the weird, the wonderful, and the quietly profound moments happening around you. The subject is yours to choose. Any process is welcome, whether digital or analog, in color or monochrome.
Winners will receive cash awards, a published portfolio in AAP Magazine #61, and international exposure through press coverage and our global audience.
