1st International Open Call Photography Show

Peter Miller Fine Art Photography Gallery   /   Deadline: 05/03/15

Peter Miller Fine Art (PMFA) photography gallery seeks a broad range of exhibition-ready work from established and emerging photographers for its 1st International Open Call juried show, May 21 - June 12, 2015, juried by Rob Van Petten.

We want to hear (and see) your story, what drives, motivates, and inspires your creative process. All photo-based printed images are welcome. There is no limitation to subject matter or technique. All entries will be anonymously reviewed and judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit.

Location

Peter Miller Fine Art Photography Gallery
118 North Main Street
Providence, Rhode Island 02903

Fees

$30 for 3 images, $10 for each additional image

Eligibility

PMFA invites photographers working in all mediums, styles, and schools of thought to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Artwork must be photography-based and limited to a maximum height or width (including the frame) of 40 inches. Photographers must be age 18 or older.

Requirements

How to Enter:
- Select 3 (and up to 6) images. Save each file as JPG, highest quality, sRGB color space, 1920 pixels on the longest side, and file size less than 5 megabytes. All entries will be anonymously reviewed, so name the file whatever you like but do not include your name within.
- Go to CAF (https://www.callforentry.org) and complete your entry before 11:59pm (Mountain Time) on May 3, 2015.

Accepted Photographs for Exhibition:
- Artwork can be hand delivered to the gallery May 16 and 17 from 1 to 4pm. Shipped artwork should arrive between Friday May 15 and Monday May 18, 2015.

- All work submitted for exhibition must be printed and framed professionally with either glass or plexi, and be wired with D-rings and ready to hang. PMFA recognizes that some work is non-traditional and incorporates the framing as an integral part of the presentation. Prints on aluminum, wood, or other alternative material are acceptable. The maximum height or width including the frame must not exceed 40 inches.

- Photographs not suitably prepared will be excluded. Once unpacked at the gallery framed photographs may be evaluated once again. Printing excellence, mounting and framing qualities of each piece will be taken into account. Do not use sawtooth hangers, exposed glass edges, or cleats. Work not properly framed or damaged in shipment may not be exhibited.

Awards

Prizes:
- Best of show $300
- 2nd place $200
- 3rd place $100

Prizes are awarded as gift cards from Hunts Photo & Video (Providence, Boston, and other locations and online)

Considerations

Print Service:
Distant photographers can use our print service to avoid shipping costs and mailing problems for accepted images. We print images at a good size to maximize impact at exhibition.

The process is easy:
1. Save your file at 300dpi at one of the standard image sizes below (next page). Save as JPG maximum quality, file size less than 20MB.
2. Email the file to PMFA. Write "print service and [your name]" in the subject line of your email.
3. PMFA will email you a PayPal invoice for $40 per print.
4. Promptly send payment for the invoice so we can print, frame, and hang your image in time for the show.

After the exhibit, all print-service prints remain available for viewing at the gallery. At your request we can ship the print to you after the show has concluded (contiguous 48 states USA only).

Print service image sizes at 300dpi:
- 12 x 16 inches (3:4 aspect)
- 14 x 14 inches (Square)
- 11 x 16.5 inches (2:3 aspect)

All prints have additional white border all around and will be displayed in professional black frames behind acrylic.

Evaluation Criteria

All entries will be anonymously reviewed and judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit.
