Episcopal School of Jacksonville's Fine Arts Department seeks a Photography and Digital Media Instructor to participate in the thriving fine arts department beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The artist educator would teach 7th through 9th-grade Photography & Digital Media classes as well as Survey of Visual Arts, an Upper School course designed to give students an understanding and awareness of the multiple techniques and processes used in the visual arts. This teacher would collaborate with the Upper School Photography instructor and the Visual Arts Instructors to foster the growth, and development of the photography program, and the Visual Arts at ESJ.

The candidate should be proficient with many camera types, but most importantly, it is essential to be an expert in shooting in manual settings with DSLR-type equipment. Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with more in-depth knowledge of Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, and RAW. Experience with analog processes preferred, but not required.

Contribution to the broader school community, through activities such as academic advising, supervisory duties, and coaching or sponsoring extracurricular programs, is expected of all community members.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in the visual arts, photography or an appropriate field of study from a four-year college or university, or post-graduate work in the visual arts.

An advanced degree is preferred, but not required.

Three years of teaching experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should have;

Mastery of the content and skills central to the teaching of the Visual Arts, specifically relating to Fine Art Photography and its place in contemporary culture.

Passion and enthusiasm for working with Middle and Upper School students in a mission-centered learning environment.

Commitment to learner-centered practices.

Commitment to and engagement in collaborative work to achieve both department-specific and school-wide goals.

Deep and thorough knowledge of the subject matter of courses taught and a growth mindset in seeking and taking advantage of opportunities for continued learning and professional growth in your field at Episcopal.

Desire to contribute to our community beyond the classroom, including service as an academic advisor, sponsorship of extracurricular programs, coaching, attendance at community events, and participation in off-campus and overnight trips.

Evidence of building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Proficiency in using learning technology

Lifelong investment in learning and growth.
