The Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) seeks a dynamic and energetic artist to fill a fulltime instructor position beginning spring 2024. They will teach 3 studio courses per semester, specifically courses in Digital Photography, Digital Art Foundations, Digital Design, Time-based Media, and 2D Foundations. Darkroom experience is preferred, as this position is intertwined with the greater Photo area curriculum and facilities. The Visual and Performing Arts department is committed to the philosophy of interdisciplinary approaches to the arts. This instructor will demonstrate an artistic practice that intersects with areas across the arts and the greater university disciplines. Within the Visual Arts area, the ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in Photography and the Digital Arts curriculum, both technically and conceptually. Work Location: Typically, on-site; position may be partially remote, based on the semester-to-semester need of the department, as determined by the supervisor.
This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
What We Offer:
Salary Range: Generally starting at $44,892 per academic year
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
An MFA or equivalent degree is required at the time of appointment
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of teaching experience
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and related technologies
An active studio practice and engagement with the increasingly global contemporary art world.
Physical Requirements:
Employee must be able to teach in person, communicate with students, faculty, and staff and conduct research and/or produce scholarship/creative work.
