The BFA in Photography is a new degree program in the Department of Art, with concentrations in Commercial and Fine Art Photography. There are more than 120 Photography majors and more than 70 Photography minors. Photography faculty also play a central role in providing coursework for Art Department majors in Art Education, Graphic Design, and Art and Visual Culture, and participate in offering general education courses for non-majors across campus. The Art Department is NASAD-accredited and has over 40 full-time faculty members and nearly 850 undergraduate majors. It offers BFA degrees in Graphic Design, Photography, Studio Art, and Art Education; a BA degree with concentrations in Art History, Art Management, and Studio Art (Fibers, Painting and Drawing, Metals, Printmaking, Sculpture, Clay); and BS degrees Graphic Communications Management. The department has an honors program and a departmental gallery. The Art Department is situated in five buildings and has several full and part-time support staff, including a building technician and two administrative assistants. Wey Hall, home to the Art Foundations program, is undergoing a two-year total renovation which is scheduled to be completed in 2025. Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned MFA or equivalent in Photography or related area.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Evidence of promising creative and/or commercial practice.
• Evidence of commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in research, service, and/or pedagogy.
• Ability to teach all levels of photography, seminar courses, and areas of specialization.
• Experience with, or commitment to, educating and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds and demographics.
• Broad vision of the role of photography in an undergraduate curriculum.
• Evidence of critical thinking about the medium of photography.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required):
• College-level teaching experience beyond the graduate assistant level.
• Knowledge of current and emerging trends, video, professional practice, social media platforms, and/or experimental forms in photography.
• Experience working in both commercial and fine art photographic practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach three courses per semester (9 hours) in Photography, or related areas including foundations, and/or general education.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including collaborating with Photography colleagues on curriculum, program development, and student advising.
• Sustained scholarly/creative practice research program in the field of photography.
