The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a one-year temporary position in Photography at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2023. Applicants must possess a strong desire to teach in a department and institution with a strong emphasis on excellent teaching and continuation of scholarship that involves engaging and collaboration with undergraduate students.

Responsibilities include a teaching load of 4/4 per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship and service to the University community. Additional requirements as per the MSCA contract. Commitment to excellence in teaching, especially traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students, demonstrated teaching experience appropriate to the level of appointment, and evidence of scholarly/creative activity.

Requirements:
Minimum:
MFA in Photography or related field by June 30, 2023.
A fresh pedagogical perspective while providing students with a solid foundation in the skills required to seek professional work in the field.
Ability to teach introductory and upper-level photography courses, which include fundamentals of 35mm and darkroom processes as well as digital camera systems, documentary photography, studio photography, and advanced photo editing techniques.
Ability to teach according to commercial and professional standards as appropriate.
A track record of teaching excellence as evidenced by student evaluations.
An active and visible record as a practicing professional artist.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.

Preferred:
Prior undergraduate teaching experience.
Research that involves engaging and collaborating with students.
Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented minority students is highly desired.
Candidates who can teach in multiple areas related to media and communication.
