CEPA Gallery seeks a full-time Curator of Exhibitions to advance CEPA's mission of presenting innovative and thought-provoking exhibitions and programming in the photographic-based arts. Throughout its nearly 50 year history, CEPA has strived to reflect the creative priorities of working artists, while growing to accommodate the educational and social needs of Western New York's diverse community. Over the years, CEPA has evolved into a nationally recognized arts center that is international in scope, but regional in spirit. It is now one of the oldest and largest not-for-profit photography-based arts centers in North America.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In alignment with CEPA's mission, conceive, develop and implement exhibitions and related programming that may include public installations outside of CEPA as well as lectures, symposiums, members opportunities, and educational programming. This will require time management skills and effective communication with artists/galleries, registrar duties, shipping, installation/de-installation, production of interpretive signage, exhibition catalogs, and web-based newsletters.

The Curator is supported by and oversees the Gallery Manager/Installer and works collaboratively with the Executive/Curatorial Assistant. Other working relationships will involve collaborations with the Education Director and various fellows, interns, visiting artists, and volunteers. The Curator is expected to participate in exhibition openings and related events.

The Curator will provide fiscal management of all programming in coordination with the Executive Director. This includes grant writing, fundraising, and regular reporting, as well as public outreach and advocacy. The Curator may be involved with recruitment and management of gallery interns, volunteers, and docents and will ensure the proper care and stewardship of CEPA's collection.
