The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University invites applications for the 3-year (renewable) position of Lecturer in Photography. This appointment is full-time and will begin in the Fall semester of 2022. The position requires a regular teaching load of 3 courses per semester, in addition to service on departmental committees and student advising.
The department seeks an artist and educator with an active record of research and professional activity who will contribute to the ongoing growth of a recently launched Photography concentration. The ideal candidate is proficient in digital and darkroom practices, engages with historical and contemporary issues in the field, and can contribute to developing curriculum that positions lens-based media within an expanded field of art practice aimed at fostering interdisciplinary connections.
Candidates who demonstrate innovative approaches to photographic pedagogy and a commitment to inclusiveness and social concerns within the learning environment are desirable. The Department of Art and Design recognizes that the field of photography does not reflect the diversity of the population that it serves. We invite applications from colleagues who share in our commitment to a more inclusive discipline through their work.
Applicants should hold an M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree by the start of this appointment. Demonstrated teaching experience is preferred.
