We are looking for an experienced and talented individual to provide photography instruction to our Upper School students as well as manage the school's digital content.

Photography Instructor Responsibilities:

Design a curriculum of photo class offerings which fit and evolve with student interests, Creative Arts department needs and administrative requirements
Develop effective and engaging training objectives, activities and materials for all photo classes
Procure, maintain and support extensive specialty SW/HW photo equipment, supplies and systems needed for normal day to day operations
Deliver classroom instruction and practical training, set objectives and monitor performance, provide ongoing feedback to students, and produce quarterly grades
Produce special annual events, exhibits and manage related projects during the school year
Provide photography support during school functions and to other departments as needed

Digital Content Manager Responsibilities:

Manage and support process for Menlo's online Photo Archive by promoting photo sharing by students, staff and parents, collecting and selecting photos from Menlo's community of photographers, editing and tagging photos with captions, info and search terms, posting to central, cloud based photo archive, distributing and sharing archival photos with Menlo community and maintaining backup storage processes.
Produce general purpose photos for Menlo School including documenting the ongoing life of students, staff and the school
Coordinate and partner with vendors and contractors on projects as needed
Collaborate with students and staff to produce and maintain Menlo's website photo requirements, selected digital photo displays and photo gallery on campus, and to periodically update displays as needed
Help produce special events and projects as needed
Support ongoing social media presence with photo content

Requirements:

Minimum a bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience teaching high school or university level Photography (or equivalent technical arts - digital arts, graphic design, computer aided design, journalism, etc). Practical photo experience and knowledge is paramount.

Technical skills include using photographic technical equipment (digital and analog: cameras, lenses, lab equipment, color printing, scanning) and Adobe certification for Photoshop and Lightroom software instruction.

Looking for someone who can engage with students and teach them to improve/learn through the practice of doing diverse projects in photography, artistically, technically and educationally as a teacher/mentor. The ability to multitask, context-switch between classes, and remember accurate details for 50+ students.

We look for teachers who contribute to the school community by actively participating in extracurricular activities, faculty committees, and school initiatives.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment, but there may be possible exposure to childhood diseases and illnesses
Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities with average interior dust with occasional exposure to outdoor elements
Exposure to photographic materials and substances
Exposure to a normal school environment that is usually quiet but sometimes noisy
