WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING PROPOSALS for panels and image-maker presentations that embrace, question, and expand upon "transmedia" and photographic practice in all its forms. All accepted proposals will not pay a registration fee. This conference will provide a unique setting and an opportunity to engage with a dynamic international keynote speaker, Rodney Graham, and a provocative featured speaker, Jess T. Dugan. In addition, all participants will be able to exchange ideas through lively dialogue, portfolio reviews, presentations, demonstrations, exhibitions, and workshops.

Western Washington University and the Art Department's Photography Concentration are pleased to co-host "TRANSFIXED | TRANSMEDIA," the 2014 Society for Photographic Education's Northwest Regional Conference. This conference seeks to explore, embrace, and question the ever-expanding definitions of photography. "TRANSFIXED | TRANSMEDIA" will dissect the past, present, and future of photographic practices as they relate to the constant redefinition of the field by featuring speakers, students, practitioners, theorists, and historians who are actively pushing the boundaries of the medium.

The Western Gallery will host a members' SPENW scholarship auction exhibition in conjunction with the conference, and there will be several other related exhibitions and events.

Eligibility

We welcome applications and proposals from other regions.

Requirements

1. Please email a one-page (800 word max.) proposal describing the content of your presentation and a brief (200 word max.) biography of each presenter. Also indicate if it is a panel presentation, image-maker presentation, workshop, or vendor presentation. Also, clearly note the total number of participants.
2. In the subject heading please write your last name_ proposal. Example: Smith_Proposal
SUBMIT TO: SPENW2014@GMAIL.COM
3. If your presentation is image-driven, please submit up to ten jpeg files no larger than 72 dpi or a link to a website that illustrates and supports the topic of your presentation.
4. Electronic submissions ONLY. Please do not send any physical materials for consideration.
5. Proposals will be accepted until April 30, 2014. If you have any questions, please contact

Awards

Conference fee to SPENW 2014 is waived for accepted proposals.
