Celebrating two 2021 Guggenheim Fellows

More congratulations are in order as SPE celebrates members Stephen Marc and Sama Alshaibi who are recipients of 2021 Guggenheim Fellowships. Some may remember that Marc, a Professor of Art at Arizona State University, shared his work at past SPE conferences and we've watched this body of work evolve into American/True Colors as highlighted in Lens/cratch: Fine Art Photography Daily.
Alshaibi is a Professor and Co-Chair of Photography, Video and Imaging at the University of Arizona and was a featured speaker at the 2018 SPE national conference in Philadelphia. Lens/cratch highlighted Alshaibi's CENTER Project Development grant award in 2019. In addition to awards recognizing their artistic talents, both have been recognized as educators; in 2008 Alshaibi received the Crystal Apple Faculty award and Marc was one of four 2015 SPE Insight award recipients.
A fun Stephen Marc fact is that he is a first cousin of the Librarian of Congress.
