Cleveland graphic designer and arts supporter Mark Schwartz has died at age 57
SPE lost a great friend and patron with the passing of Mark Schwartz, a force of nature within Cleveland's art community, an excellent photographer and dedicated collector of photographs with a particular interest in contact sheets. Mark died Sunday after a brief battle with cancer. His work with his design firm, Nesnadny + Schwartz, led groundbreaking work in many avenues, and Mark was a champion at innovative use of fine art photography within the firm's graphic design work, commissioning artists to produce work for clients and projects on an ongoing basis. His demand for excellence was evident in everything he did, and a part of most conversations with him. Mark was committed to the success of SPE and backed that commitment with not only with generous donations, but also with guidance, suggestions, ideas, and by opening his home and collection to visiting SPE folks. I will miss him, his humor, his energy and talent more than I can say. I invite you to visit a tribute website (http://goodbyemark.com/?page=2#video ) to learn more about his life, work and people.
