SPE Member James Gilmore Wins West Coast Biennial Prize
SPE member James Gilmore, who teaches Photography and Design at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, CA, has been awarded the $2500 First Prize in the West Coast Biennial Art competition.
This prestigious exhibition features artworks selected by juror Scott Shields, Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, CA. Open to West coast artists currently living in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, the aim of the exhibition is to provide a forum for both established and emerging artists working on the West coast in a diversity of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture and mixed media.
Gilmore's piece, "Paoha", is a panoramic pigment print from a black and white negative, and measures 16x44". The exhibition will run through May 6 at the Turtle Bay Museum in Redding, California.
