My interest in exploring cycles of memories between mothers and daughters was born from hours of perusing old copies of The Household Magazine, a home living publication my grandmother subscribed to while she was raising my mother. The articles that influenced my grandmother's growth as a wife and mother engrossed me. They pulled me into a world I never personally lived in yet knew intimately through the memories of my mother. I began a practice of collecting family photographs, thrifted objects, and magazines from integral years in my mother's and grandmother's lives. Investigating both personal and public archives, I explore the transmission of memory from one generation to another.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
