ASMP Ohio Valley Chapter will facilitate this discussion on making a living as a photographer today, with an array of active photographers as panelists, including:
- ASMP member Brad Feinknopf, an internationally acclaimed award-winning architectural photographer
- Jess Watson, a fashion editorial photographer who directs and photographs a wide range of campaigns, from multi-million dollar productions for large industry leaders to small and agile shoots for independent clients.
- Maddie McGarvey, an award-winning documentary photographer and visual journalist whose work regularly appears in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, National Geographic, NPR, Bloomberg, and more
- ASMP member Matt Reese, award-winning commercial photographer and filmmaker, national ASMP board member, former Ohio Valley chapter president, and networker extraordinaire.
- Producer Gail Mezey, Commercial and Film Project Management, Producer, Location Scout, Casting. Helped helped establish the first film commission in Columbus under former Mayor Michael Coleman and the Columbus Area Freelance Forum, a vibrant collection of freelancers largely in the filmmaking industry
They will:
- discuss what it's like working as a visual creative today
- offer some candid advice to the students and early career attendees considering a career in photography
- conduct a hands-on exercise on creating an estimate for a commercial job
