Kate Salisbury Wool has lived in Alaska since 1993, where she moved from her hometown of Asheville, NC. Kate received her BFA in Photographic Design from the University of Georgia in 1992 in film + the very first Photoshop. After photographing and traveling the world, she continued her education and received a MFA in Art + Photography from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 2001. Her work has been recognized + exhibited locally + nationally + internationally.
Recently, Kate Wool has given talks to MOMS DEMAND ACTION in Juneau and was awarded the Ruth Lister Feminist of the Year (2018) for her gun safety activism locally and statewide. Kate implemented the ASKING SAVES KIDS program at her daughter's elementary school, which eventually was adopted district wide, has attended and held gun safety community forums and continues to advocate for gun safety legislation in Alaska and nationally.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
