Fairbanks is Interior Alaska's commercial hub, serving over 100K local residents with daily direct flights to Seattle and single stop service to most of the West Coast and Mountain States. It is home to America's Arctic University, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a land, sea, and space grant institution serving approximately 10,000 students at its Fairbanks campus and various satellite locations throughout rural Alaska. Denali, North America's tallest peak, is less than a two hour drive away while shorter jaunts will allow you to explore a variety of fall hiking excursions in the White Mountains, Chena Hot Springs Resort, Creamer's Field Migratory Bird Refuge and the Fountainhead Car Museum. UAF boasts attractions like the UA Museum of the North, the only university-operated rocket range at Poker Flats, a Musk Ox and Reindeer Farm and a variety of archives. Those looking to extend their excursion to the Last Frontier may want to consider flying into Anchorage and enjoying the fall colors on their way up the 350-mile Parks Highway to Fairbanks, passing through Denali National Park, the base camp city of Talkeetna, and Windy Pass, a popular Caribou Range. Travel during mid September offers fall colors, temperatures in the high 40s, and the distinct potential of aurora.

Air

Fairbanks International Airport provides daily direct flights to Seattle and other cities on the west coast and is less than three miles away from the campus. Uber, Lyft and Taxi services are available to ferry you from FAI to UAF.
