Life Is Once, Forever
Saturday, October 11 - 3:00PM to 4:30PM
We are beyond thrilled to welcome Dan Winters as the Keynote Speaker for the 2025 SPE South Central Conference. Widely regarded as one of the most versatile and celebrated photographers of our time, Winters has shaped the way we see culture, science, and storytelling. From striking celebrity portraits to his iconic documentation of NASA and National Geographic assignments, his work continues to influence generations of photographers and audiences worldwide.
A National Geographic Explorer and the recipient of over 100 international awards—including World Press Photo, the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award, and a 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from PPA—Winters' career spans magazines, books, exhibitions, illustration, and film. His photographs have appeared in TIME, The New Yorker, National Geographic, Rolling Stone, GQ, Wired, and countless others, while his six published books and international exhibitions cement his reputation as a master visual storyteller.
This keynote offers a rare opportunity to hear from an artist whose images have become part of our cultural memory, and whose curiosity continues to expand the boundaries of photography.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
