Mona Bozorgi
Saturday, March 08 - 1:30PM to 2:30PM
Tuscany 12
This presentation focuses on Bozorgi's recent body of work, Threads of Freedom. The work intertwines materials and narratives in photography to question traditional representations of women in the Middle East. Threads of Freedom combines photographs with textiles, highlights the entanglement of materiality and concept in photography, and questions the relations between photographer and subject. Bozorgi pushes the boundaries of the medium and explores the affective power of photographs to influence social, political, and cultural evolutions. Bozorgi views herself as a facilitator working alongside others in an ongoing process of creative resistance.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
