"Shattered Silhouettes" explores the nature of recollection and how we reconstruct and lose memories of our past. The project intertwines photography, glass processes, and printmaking to investigate discrepancies between recollection and reality. Archival photographs are laser-etched onto glass, then printed using vitreography, with each print shattering under pressure. The broken pieces are reassembled, symbolizing the effort required to remember. Distorted shadows cast by the glass represent the unreliable nature of memory. Through these interdisciplinary techniques, the project highlights the fragility and impermanence of memory and invites reflection on the passage of time and the act of remembering.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
