Composit: Creating a Photobook Press in a Curricular Structure

In the fall of 2024 Composit Press was founded at Oregon State University. Composit is a student-staffed photobook press that will operate within an academic structure. In the associated set of courses (Photobook Design & Production), students will work in a commercial-style book bindery space to design and produce photobooks for selected artists (Allison Grant for Fall 24). This talk will outline and detail the process of setting up a commercial press within the School of Art at the Oregon State as well as the process of design and production, including detailed budgets, equipment and materials costs, and timelines.
