Susan Lakin with Peter Ferry and Joe Geigel
Saturday, March 08 - 11:00AM to 11:45AM
The Nostalgia Project (http://nostalgia.cias.rit.edu/) is a collaboration between musicians, artists, computer scientists, and the audience. The project employs web-based photo sharing, text messaging, and musical performance to explore the notion of nostalgia, merging the visual image with music both responding to and affecting the other. In this presentation we ask our audience to turn on their cell phones and participate in the performance by sharing photos from their photo library. The stage will be set by discussing the development of this interdisciplinary project, the pervasiveness of the camera phone, the interconnections between music and art, and photography's connection to nostalgia.
