"Photography and the Art of Visual Thinking"

Saturday, March 12 - 1:00PM to 1:45PM
Atlanta 1&2

The photograph, a record of the meeting of world and mind, may be the beginning of a train of thought that advances inquiry, or it may stand alone as a free-standing idea, a photographic haiku. The image – as representation, concept, and metaphor – is both an idea and a medium of thought. To select, arrange, and order images is to organize thoughts. Many photographers have described in words their practice of thinking through photography. Their work serves as a model for current discussions on art as research and implications for promotion and tenure of visual artists.
