Youth in Focus celebrates its 20th Anniversary

Twenty years ago, SPE member Walter Bodle, founded Youth in Focus to help kids who need a little direction in life in some small way and in hopes that Bodle's passion for photography might be passed on to these young people, giving them a means of expression and a voice in the community.

Youth in Focus began with a summer photography program that pulled a few Seattle teens away from the distractions in their lives and turned those negatives into positives. Fourteen young people completed the first ten-week session and seemed profoundly changed by their experience. The program decided to try to grow and expand and grow it has!

Today a great team of instructors, volunteer mentors, and staff provide after-school and summer classes for nearly 300 students each year. Unquestionably, Youth in Focus is making a difference in their lives and they, in turn, impact others.

Youth in Focus is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and needs your help to carry the program into the next 20 years and beyond. If you would like to make a donation to support next year's programs, please visit youthinfocus.org/donors/donate-now.
