Kenda North is one of three artists featured in an exhibition at the Craighead Green Gallery October 16 - November 13, 2010.
"Notations of Beauty and Loss" is the title she chose for her work in the exhibition. This body of photographs, more than any in the past, is much more personal to North. The passing of time, changes in her family and her day to day experiences have pushed her to demonstrate visually through the camera what her evolving life could be. North states that "The house may be considered a place for memories to rest: the table is a place we come together for food, drink and conversation or to spend time to read, create or daydream." North has used the "dining table" as a focus for many of the new photographs, placement of her mother's china all the while unbalanced and out of context. North has her MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop, Rochester, NY, and her BA in Fine Art, Colorado College, Co. Springs. She is the current associate professor in photography, University of Texas, Arlington.
