Yashoda Latkar is an artist and a photographer born and brought up in Mumbai, India, and now based in New Mexico, USA. She is in her second year of MFA at New Mexico State University. She completed her Bachelors in Mass Media (Advertising) from Mumbai University, India. She holds a diploma in photography from the London College of Communication, UAL. She exhibited her photography work at New Mexico State University in 2019 with her fellow graduates. University of Arts, London had a group exhibition where Yashoda showed her photography work. She has experience as a commercial and fashion photographer for 8 years. She previously has worked in diverse settings including movie sets, news channels, magazines, and cruise ships. This vast experience of working in different fields and traveling away from home helps her to create the artwork that focuses on her identity as an Indian and a woman in a foreign land.
Her current research includes her legal status in the United States of America and how it affects her personally. With portraits, self-portraits, still photography, work of ceramics, and videos she constantly tries to
find answers to her immigrant status.
