about
Tryst Red is an installation and lens-based artist and educator. She pulls inspiration from her time as a nomad juxtaposed with her attachment to her childhood home in Long Island, NY. Combining video projection, photography, and film, Tryst investigates our ability to relate to and find connection in the experiences of others. In sharing her most intimate memories and thoughts, Tryst has found her audience can recognize moments in her work that reflect their own memories, losses, and aspirations.
Tryst has exhibited her work in multiple group shows, including The Scarab Club, Muskegon Museum of Art, Detroit Artist Market, Whitdel Arts, and Cranbrook Art Museum. Her solo show "Skin & Scales" was in August of 2021 at Tom Gibbs Studio in Ferndale, MI. She graduated from Wayne State University in 2020 with a BFA in photography and art history and received her MFA (photography) in May 2023 from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Tryst is an executive board member of NOVA24 Photo and Film Festival and an adjunct professor at the College for Creative Studies, Lawrence Tech, Wayne State University, and Oakland University.
